Tennis Hosts Randolph

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's and women's tennis teams wrap up their home regular season slates this afternoon by hosting Randolph College in an ODAC doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.

The SU men (8-7, 3-6 ODAC) will be searching for a third straight win while the Hornet women (12-3, 6-3) are looking for their seventh straight victory.

The Shenandoah women are still in line for a home match at the upcoming ODAC Tournament but need wins today against the WildCats (10-5, 7-3) and tomorrow at Bridgewater (7-7, 6-4) to secure a home match in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals.

The Hornet men can take the seventh seed from Randolph (7-7, 4-5) with a win this afternoon.

Will Leach, playing primarily at No. 5 singles spot, leads the men with 10 singles victories.

Leach is one of five players with at least eight singles wins – Steven Baker and Zach O'Neal have nine each playing at the top and bottom of the lineup, respectively, with Matt Hwang and Blake Sharp contributing eight each from the middle of the ladder.

For the 'Cats, Bradley Strober has a team-high 10 singles wins with Doug Corbett chipping in nine.

Randolph is a cumulative 54-44 (.551) in singles this season.

Junior Amy Rapp has 15 singles wins for the Hornet women, including a stellar 11-2 mark at No. 4.

Coach Larry Hubbard's women are 68-50 in singles this season (.576) with all six singles players posting at least eight wins.

In addition to Rapp's 15 victories, Amber Lake is a perfect 11-0, Caitlin Tilton 12-4 and Shannon Allin 10-8 to give the squad four players with above .500 records.

SU is nearly as strong in doubles, winning at a .542 clip with the Rapp/Tilton and Molly Barb/Allin duos both earning eight wins.

Rapp and Tilton both have 11 wins playing in doubles.

The Randolph women, who have only had seven players appear all season long, are a cumulative 57-30 in singles (.655) with five players earning at least nine wins.

Jenna Sweet is a team-best 12-1 with a 7-1 mark at No. 3. Heather Parra, who is 11-3 overall, is a perfect 9-0 at No. 4.

Parra and Sweet have combined for a perfect 12-0 mark at the No. 4 position.
