Women's Tennis Opens at ITA Regional

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's tennis team opened up its 2015-16 competitive schedule with its participation Saturday at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships.

Senior Molly Barb led the Hornets in the event, playing in the main draw for singles and doubles.

In singles, Barb fell 6-4, 6-2 to Anna Scheibmeir in the round of 64.

Barb combined with Caitlin Tilton in doubles, where the duo fell 8-2 to Alex Drye and Kate Huck.

Tilton played in the Blue 5 singles flight, where she dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Gavriel Rubenstein.

Amy Rapp played in the Blue 4 flight, falling 6-2, 6-2 to Shivani Gupta.

At Blue 6, Sophia Schuster defeated Melodie Madison 6-4, 6-2.

Jeannella Williams played Blue 3, and fell 6-3, 7-5 to Amanda Izes.

Audrea Wright rounded out the participants with her Blue 7 match against Amber Penaloza unreported Saturday evening.

The tournament concludes Sunday.
