Women's Tennis Falls to Guilford

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis squad suffered its first loss of the 2016 campaign Saturday afternoon in a 6-3 ODAC defeat versus Guilford.

Guilford (4-2, 3-1 ODAC) jumped to a 3-0 lead following doubles, but all three matches were close.

Shenandoah's No. 3 tandem of Kelsey Nicely and Madison came the closest to winning as they forced Nora Prokosch and Chandler MacDonald into a winner-take-all tiebreaker. The Quakers duo won all seven points of that tiebreak to win 9-8.

In singles, SU (2-1, 0-1) earned wins at Nos. 1, 4 and 6. Molly Barb defeated Katie Claggett in the No.1 spot, while Caitlin Tilton and Melodie Madison picked up victories in the Nos. 4 and No. 6, respectively.

Tilton was a 6-0, 6-0 victor while Madison won 9-7 in a pro-set after the match result was decided.

Shenandoah hosts Bridgewater on Wednesday in an ODAC match.
