WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis team earned its initial ODAC victory of the 2016 season with a 6-3 win over Bridgewater Wednesday afternoon.

The Hornets (3-1, 1-1 ODAC) opened up a 2-1 lead following the doubles portion thanks to 8-2 and 8-1 wins, respectively, at Nos. 1 and 3.

With a walkover at No. 6 singles, Shenandoah now needed just two wins in the remaining five singles matches to earn its first-ever ODAC win over Bridgewater (1-6, 0-1).

Molly Barb, with a win at love over Stephanie Barton at No. 1, brought SU to within one victory of the clinch.

Barb's classmate, Amy Rapp, finished it off with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 2 over Ashley Price.

Caitlin Tilton, at No. 3, gave the Hornets their last point by taking on Whitney Cash 6-2, 6-4.

Barb and Tilton had the No. 1 doubles win with Kelsey Nicely and Melodie Madison winning at No. 3.

Shenandoah hosts Emory and Henry on Saturday at 2:00 in an ODAC doubleheader with the SU men.
