WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis team snapped a two-match losing streak by downing Ferrum College 8-0 in non-league action Wednesday afternoon.
Shenandoah (4-3) raced out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a doubles sweep over Ferrum (0-13).
Senior Molly Barb, who had combined with Caitlin Tilton to win 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, put the Hornets one win from victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.
Barb's classmate, Amy Rapp, clinched the victory by winning at love over Rachel Wells at No. 2 singles.
Rapp was also a double winner on the day, teaming up with Melodie Madison to win 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Tilton and Madison, at Nos. 3 and 5 singles, respectively, also won at love.
Kelsey Nicely had the last point with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 4.
Denise Vollmer's match at No. 6, versus Trinity Welsh, was not started.
Nicely and Vollmer were 8-6 winners at No. 3 doubles.
The Hornets host Roanoke on Saturday in a 1 p.m. ODAC match.
