WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis team earned its first ODAC victory of the season Saturday with a 5-4 win over Emory and Henry.
Shenandoah (3-3, 1-3 ODAC) took a 2-1 lead after doubles before clinching the match with victories at Nos. 1, 2 and 6 singles.
Madison Rogers had the match-clinching victory for SU with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Kelsey Holt at No. 6.
Emory and Henry (2-6, 0-3) had cut its deficit to 5-3 with wins at Nos. 3 and 4 singles before Rogers finished off Holt to secure the win.
The Wasps won a three-set match at No. 5 after the team result was determined.
Morgan Fuqua was a double winner for the Hornets, winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 after combining with Madison Hansen to win 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Rogers also was a part of a doubles-winning team. She and Emma Crue took out Holt and Kala Curtis 8-6 at No. 3.
The women host Guilford on Saturday in a 2 p.m. ODAC match.
