Box Score SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's tennis team had a pair of consolation champions and the Pink Draw runner-up at the Battle of the Blue Ridge hosted by Sweet Briar College.

SUNDAY REVIEW

The Hornets entered the second day of play with Jada Lewis as the only woman remaining in a winners bracket as she had advanced to the Pink Draw semi-finals. Lewis got the day started on a positive note by qualifying for the final with a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) win over Megan Hughes from Catholic.

Lewis then fell 6-0, 7-5 to Sarah Iocovozzi from Brevard.

In the consolation brackets, Lily Kimble won the Pink Draw championship with an 8-5 win over McKenzie Bowman from Brevard. Madison Rogers won the Green Draw with an 8-0 win over teammate Caitlin Bennett. 

SATURDAY REVIEW

The Hornets had four wins in the opening matches of the day, including a main draw singles victory by freshman Javheesha Combs. She downed Grace Connell from Catholic, 6-3, 6-2.

Combs then fell to Kate Kotany from Sweet Briar in a quarterfinal round third-set super-tiebreaker. Combs won the opening set 6-1 before Kotany answered with a 6-2 victory in the second. Kotany then advanced with a 10-4 win in the tiebreak.

Three women: Lily Kimble in singles and the doubles tandem of Emma Crue and Lindsey Harford, will play for consolation championships.
