COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – ODAC Player of the Week,
Mairead Mckibbin has been announced as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association DIII Offensive Player of the Week in selections announced Wednesday morning.
Mickibbin, the first year elementary education major, scored four times in two games last week including a hat trick at Bridgewater to spoil BC Homecoming.
The Magnolia, Delaware native's first goal against the Eagles proved to be the game-winner.
To round out her performance, the forward set up her teammates three times to help Shenandoah outscore their opponents 11-1 in the two contests.
"Mairead has brought a spark and energy to our team all season," said Head Coach
Ashley Smeltzer-Kraft. "She continues to show up in big moments and supports her teammates every chance she gets. This is also a huge recognition for our program, our first national weekly award."
With 12 goals and 12 assists through the first 13 contests, she sits in the top-5 standings for both, fourth in goals and second in assists in the ODAC ranks.
The Hornets, who received votes in the national poll for the second week in a row, host No.12 Washington & Lee tonight at 7 p.m.
SU and W&L sit atop the conference standings at one and two, respectively.
