WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team earned its second consecutive win Wednesday with a 7-6 overtime victory over Christopher Newport.
Gabriella Raspanti buried a
Reilly Cisar feed 87 seconds into sudden victory overtime to push Shenandoah (4-2) past the Captains (3-3).

Raspanti's game-winner, in which she took the Cisar's feed from right on the doorstep, was necessary because CNU tied the game with 12 seconds remaining in overtime.
The Captains were whistled for a green card on the ensuing draw, giving SU the final possession of regulation. Shenandoah was unable to get off a shot in those final moments and the two teams headed to the extra session.
Cisar won the OT draw and SU set up its offense for what turned out to be the game-winning possession. Coach
Lindsey Lutz club had one shot, by
Emma Stiffler, on that possession before scoring the game-winner.
The two teams were never separated by more than one goal and were tied at 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, and 6-6 before Raspanti gave Shenandoah just its fourth-ever victory over the Captains in 24 lifetime meetings.
Cisar and Stiffler led the victors with two goals each.
Ashley MacFarlane made 10 saves in the winning effort.
Shenandoah had a 33-18 edge in shots and 21-17 in groundballs. The two teams split 16 draws.
