LYNCHBURG, Va. – Shenandoah University won its fourth straight men's lacrosse game with a 23-2 ODAC victory at Randolph College Saturday afternoon.
Shenandoah (8-2, 3-0 ODAC) moved to within one win of the program-record for victories in the season with the win over the WildCats (1-7, 0-2).
IN BRIEF
SU led from wire-to-wire, with
Chris Baker scoring its initial goal 4:21 into the contest and led 5-0 at the end of one and 14-1 by halftime.
The Hornets held Randolph off the board for the initial 29:08 of the contest and had a 14-0 lead when the 'Cats scored their first goal.
Randolph scored its second and final goal at 10:52 of the third before Shenandoah closed out the game on a 9-0 run.
Baker,
Zachary Heiderman, and
James Stewart led the way with six points apiece with
Logan Clingerman adding five points on four goals and one assist.
Thirteen men registered at least one point in the victory.
The SU defense was outstanding, holding Randolph to just 10 shots, while taking 51 shots of its own on the offensive end.
Shenandoah also had a 34-9 advantage in groundballs and won 25 of 28 faceoffs.
NOTABLE
The program record for victories in a season is nine, originally set in 2007, and matched in both 2008 and 2017.
UP NEXT
Shenandoah is off until hosting Virginia Wesleyan next Saturday, Apr. 2, in a 4 p.m. ODAC contest. It is also Senior Day for the squad.
