WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 18 Shenandoah University opened up Mr. V Memorial Classic play with a 13-4 non-league baseball victory over Keystone (Pa.) Friday afternoon.
Shenandoah (9-1) scored the first 11 runs of the game to cruise to its seventh straight victory.
IN BRIEF
Keystone (1-3) scored its four runs with two-run home runs in the seventh and eighth innings. The Hornets answered that first dinger with two runs on two hits in the bottom of the seventh.
The offense was more than enough for junior
Jacob Faivre (3-0). Faivre tossed the initial six innings and struck out six against seven hits and two walks.
Parker Farrington pitched the seventh and eighth while
Brian Ferreira recorded the final three outs of the contest. Farrington gave up the four runs on four hits and a walk, but struck out four.
Shenandoah banged out 15 hits in the win with
Frankie Ritter and
Kyle Lisa getting three each and
Pearce Bucher two.
Two of Lisa's three hits left the yard – he had a three-run home run in the fourth and a solo shot in the seventh. The senior drove in five runs on the afternoon.
Bucher also a home run with a two-run shot (scoring Lisa) in the first. He drove in three.
Henry Delavergne and
Kooper Anderson also had two hits each.
Pat Adamski (0-2) took the loss for the Giants. He allowed seven runs on eight hits and two walks in four innings of work.
UP NEXT
The tournament continues tomorrow with an 11 a.m. game featuring Keystone and Oswego (N.Y.) State. Shenandoah takes on OSU in the 2:30 game Saturday.
