Women's Lacrosse Takes Down Panthers

Senior Emma Stiffler records her 100th career goal

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team downed the visiting Ferrum College Panthers 20-7 Saturday afternoon in an ODAC contest.

Senior Emma Stiffler recorded her 100th career goal at the 12:44 mark in the third quarter to help lead the Hornets (7-3, 2-0 ODAC) to a victory over Ferrum (5-6, 1-2).

The Panthers found the back of the net first with a Willow Cooper goal 48 seconds into the contest.

The Hornets answered back with an unassisted Stiffler goal just 90 seconds later to put her one goal shy of the triple digit mark. Stiffler then found Emily Lerch on the next possession to give Shenandoah the 2-1 lead.

Ferrum was able to tie the game at 2-2 with 11:24 remaining in the first but SU rattled off four consecutive goals to end the first stanza and held a 6-2 lead a quarter of the way through regulation.

The two teams would combine for seven goals in the second quarter and Shenandoah doubled up the Panthers,10-5, heading into the locker room.

SU scored all eight goals in the third quarter including six-straight woman-up opportunities.

Stiffler's 100th career goal came off a feed from Kate Vendemia to start the second half.

After chasing a wide free-position shot, Vendemia found a wide-open Stiffler in the center of the eight-meter fan.

Lerch would go on to score the two final SU goals in the fourth quarter.

The Hornets saw 12 women record at least one goal.

Gabriella Raspanti led all scorers with four goals and Stiffler recorded seven points.

Stifler, along with Paige Padberg and Paige Colvin, each caused three turnovers with SU recording 13 total.

Shenandoah owned a 22-9 advantage in draw controls.
