Women's Lax Takes Down Randolph in Finale

Hornets Defeat WildCats, 22-5

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team defeated Randolph College 22-5 in the ODAC regular season finale on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets (11-6, 6-2 ODAC) jumped out to a 10-goal lead in the first quarter, owning the 12-2 advantage over the WildCats (4-9, 2-6) after just 15 minutes of play.

IN BRIEF

Senior co-captain Emma Stiffler was hot out of the gate scoring the first goal for SU just 49 seconds into the contest.

After Stiffler found the back of the net, the Hornets would go on a 4-0 run with a pair of Reilly Cisar goals and a single Gabriella Raspanti tally. Shenandoah would not look back for the entirety of the contest.

At the 8:45 mark Randolph was able to get on the board with a free position goal.

SU finished out the opening quarter outscoring the hosts, 8-1, to activate a running clock.

The Hornets added ten goals in the three remaining quarters including six coming out in the second half.

The visitors' defense held RC to just three goals in the second half.

Ashley MacFarlane recorded one save in the first quarter before making way for Erin Spaulding, who made two stops, in the cage for the remaining three quarters.

Shenandoah allowed only eight shots and successfully completed 9-of-10 clears from the defensive end of the field.

Cisar had a game-high six goals with three assists for nine points.

Kathleen Donovan and Stiffler added six points each and first year player, Kate Vendemia, adding five off two goals and three assists.
