BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Seventh-seeded Shenandoah University registered its first-ever ODAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament victory Monday with a 13-12 first round win over Bridgewater College.

Shenandoah (10-8) set a new program record for victories in a season with the win over Bridgewater (10-8).

Trailing 9-4 midway through the third period, SU stormed back into the contest with a six-goal run from the 1:46 mark of the third to the 9:16 mark of the fourth.

The final goal of this run, unassisted by
Chris Baker, put the Hornets on top for the first time since holding a 3-2 lead at the end of one.

In a game that featured six ties and three lead changes, Bridgewater put the penultimate lead change on the board with goals at 7:18 and 5:08.

Shenandoah, which won six of 10 faceoffs in the fourth, won the ensuing draw and tied the game at 11-11 as
Tyler Held swept across the top of the cage and ripped his eight-yard shot past Eagles keeper Robbie Noyes.

Sixty-six seconds later, following another Hornets faceoff win,
Stephen Graham fed
Zachary Heiderman on a cross crease pass to score the pivotal 13
th goal.

Bridgewater made matters interesting by scoring with 44 seconds left and then getting a turnover deep in its own end, but SU came up with a
Ricky Perez-Macia caused turnover and cleared the ball downfield as time expired.

The win, the Hornets 10
th of the season, breaks the previous program record of nine wins originally set in 2007 and matched in 2008, 2017, and this year.

Shenandoah makes its second appearance in the ODAC quarterfinals after first appearing in 2017.

Held led the victors with four goals and one assist for five points with Graham adding two goals and two assists for four points.
