HOW IT HAPPENED

In the first set Lynchburg would jump out to an early 1-0 lead, but a kill from Regan Minney and a Hornet attack error, gave Shenandoah their first lead of the match 2-1.  After a kill from Cheyenne Price, Shenandoah would now lead 5-3, but Lynchburg would quickly regain the lead after four-point run.  In a back-and-forth set, Shenandoah would get kills from Regan Minney and Aaliyah Chunn to draw the score level at 8, but each time one team would grab the lead the other was there with the answer.  With a balanced Shenandoah attack of kills from Kylie Danella, Regan Minney, Emma Thompson, Cheyenne Price and Jillian Warter.  However, with Lynchburg leading 23-21, they would get the final two points and take the first set 25-21.

In the second set, Shenandoah would jump to a 7-1 lead using kills from Aaliyah Chunn and two from Jillian Warter.  That lead would be short-lived, as Lynchburg would rattle off the next five points to bring the score to within one point at 7-6.  Again, no lead was safe for either as team, as both teams traded points back and forth.  An Aaliyah Chunn kill brought the score to 24-23, but Lynchburg fought back to tie it at 24.  After an attack error and another kill from Warter, Shenandoah would tie the game at one set apiece.

In the third, Shenandoah would take advantage of attack errors and use two aces from Natalie Reader and a kill from Jillian Warter to take an 8-5 lead.  Back-to-back kills from Warter gave Shenandoah a two-point lead at 10-8.  Shenandoah could not stop the runs from Lynchburg as the Hornets would use a late seven-point run to put the set out of reach.  Lynchburg took the third set 25-18.

In the fourth set with the Hornets' back against the wall, Shenandoah would jump out to a 2-0 lead with kills from Minney and Warter.  After kills and aces from Emma Thompson, the score would be level at 6.  Three straight kills from Regan Minney brought Shenandoah to within one point at 11-12.  Each team would trade two and three-point runs back and forth, but Shenandoah would find themselves down 22-18 late in the fourth.  Three kills and two attack errors later and the score was tied at 22.  With both teams continuing to trade points, Lynchburg was able to secure the final two points and take the match 28-26.
