FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Host Mary Washington used a six-goal run midway through the contest Saturday afternoon to fuel a 13-5 non-league women's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah.

After the Hornets (2-1) tied the contest at 3-3 on a
Gabriella Raspanti goal at the 9:10 mark of the second, Mary Washington (3-0) scored the game's next six goals to take control.

Ainsley Buckner, finishing off a
Reilly Cisar feed at 5:54 of the fourth finally halted the Eagles run, but the damage was done.

Buckner's goal, her 10
th of the season, began a stretch in which the two teams traded the game's next four goals with
Emily Lerch scoring unassisted for SU. UMW then scored twice in the final 98 seconds of the contest to provide the final margin of victory.

Trailing 3-1 as Mary Washington scored the initial goal of the second quarter Cisar, from Buckner, and Raspanti scored consecutive goals to knot the contest at 3-3 at that 9:10 mark.

Cisar had the Hornets initial tally, scoring off of an
Emma Stiffler assist with 28 seconds remaining in the first. Cisar's second goal of the game gives her 100 for her career.

Erin Spaulding played the entire 60 minutes in goal and made 11 saves.
Mary Washington outshot SU, 32-24, scooped up 20 of the game's 37 groundballs, and won 14 of 22 draws.Â
