WINCHESTER, Va. – The No. 21/24 Shenandoah University baseball team completed its weekend Sunday with a 3-1 non-league victory over Marymount.
Â
Shenandoah (7-0) scored single runs in the fifth, sixth, and eighth innings to dispatch the Saints (3-2).
Â
IN BRIEF
Graduate student
Ryan Clawson drove in the game-winning run with one out in the sixth on a single up the middle to bring home
Pearce Bucher from second.
Â
Bucher had led off the frame with a single to left and was sacrificed to second by
Haden Madagan.
Â
In the eighth, the Hornets added an insurance run on two hits as
Gavin Horning led off with a single up the middle, was sacrificed to second and moved to third on a Bucher single to left.
Â
Madagan, who was 2 for 2 on the day, then lofted a 300' sacrifice fly to bring home Horning.
Â
Shenandoah's first run came thanks to a pair of hits and a Marymount error.
Kooper Anderson doubled down the left field line to start the inning and scored as the Saints misplayed
Frankie Ritter's single to left for a two-base error.
Â
Horning, Bucher, and Anderson joined Madagan in getting two hits.
Â
First-year
Ricky Snyder, who came on in relief of starter
Jacob Bell in the sixth, got the final seven outs to earn the victory. Bell struck out four and Snyder two.
Â
