WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team completed its busy week of play Saturday with a 13-11 non-league home victory over Widener.
Shenandoah (5-3) scored six of the eight goals in the fourth period to rally past the Pride (4-4).
IN BRIEF
Trailing, 9-7, after Widener scored a woman-up goal with 2:52 to play in the third, Shenandoah scored five straight to start the fourth to seize control of the contest.
Graduate student
Emma Stiffler figured on four of the goals, dishing out assists to
Madison Re,
Reilly Cisar, and
Gabriella Raspanti while also scoring one goal of her own.
After WU made matters interesting by scoring back-to-back at 3:42 and 2:26, Stiffler gave the victors come breathing room by scoring an unassisted goal with 1:12 remaining.
Shenandoah, which had a 20-8 advantage on draws, won the ensuing draw and then ran out the clock to seal the victory.
Stiffler led all players with four goals and four assists for eight points with Cisar and
Ainsley Buckner both scoring three goals each.
The game featured six ties and five lead changes.
Widener outshot SU, 29-25, and had an 11-10 edge on groundballs.
Ashley MacFarlane made 10 saves in the winning effort.

Shenandoah travels to Grantham, Pennsylvania Wednesday for a 5 p.m. non-league contest at Messiah.
