WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team wrapped up its non-league slate Wednesday evening with a 16-8 home loss to Randolph-Macon.
Randolph-Macon (5-4) scored seven of the game's first eight goals to take a lead it would not relinquish versus Shenandoah (3-5).
IN BRIEF
Logan Clingerman had the lone goal for the Hornets during that game-opening run, scoring unassisted at 1:27 of the first.
The hosts, with two goals from Clingerman and one from
Max Myers, cut the deficit to just three, 7-4, after just 63 seconds of third period play. Unfortunately for SU, Macon scored seven of the game's next eight goals to extend its lead out to 14-6 as the fourth quarter dawned.
The two teams split the four fourth quarter goals with
Tyler Held scoring for Shenandoah at 10:13 and 8:51 and R-MC answering back at 3:30 and 2:50.
The 'Jackets out shot SU, 46-36 and had a 38-37 edge on groundballs. The Hornets won 18 of 28 faceoffs at the 'x'.
Mark Isabelle had 15 saves for SU and
Austin Galler led all players with nine groundballs.
NOTABLE
The ODAC plays unbalanced schedules in a number of league sports, including men's and women's lacrosse. Wednesday's game with Randolph-Macon was scheduled between the two institutions to fill out the non-league portions of their respective schedules.
