WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team dropped its ODAC opener Saturday against No. 18 Roanoke College by the score of 14-12.
With the Hornets (5-5, 0-1 ODAC) up 5-3 at the 12:08 mark of the second, Roanoke (7-1, 1-0 ODAC) scored seven unanswered to take control of the contest.
IN BRIEF
Shenandoah, playing its second consecutive ranked opponent and third of four in a three-week span, opened the game on an
Emma Stiffler goal 29 seconds in. Stiffler, who finished with four goals and three assists for seven points, had two goals in the opening stanza.
SU had a 4-3 lead after one and took that 5-3 advantage on a Stiffler to
Reilly Cisar goal to open the second quarter scoring. Unfortunately for the home fans, the Maroons scored seven straight, holding the Hornets off the board for 20:42 of game time and turn the two-goal deficit into a five-goal lead.
