WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 2 Washington & Lee used a big second quarter run to down host Shenandoah, 19-9, in ODAC women's lacrosse action Wednesday evening at Aikens Stadium.
With the game tied at 5-5 following an
Emily Lerch free position goal for SU (5-6, 0-2 ODAC) at 12:34 of the second, Washington & Lee (9-1, 2-0) answered back.

The Generals scored the game's next eight goals, holding Shenandoah off the board for 21:45, as they turned that 5-5 contest into a 13-5 advantage.
Lerch figured in the Hornets drought-breaking goal, setting up
Ainsley Buckner for a woman-advantage tally at 5:49 of the third. This tally, Buckner's second of four on the evening, started a run in which the two teams traded goals for the remainder of the period.
Reilly Cisar, off of an
Emma Stiffler assist, had the hosts' goal at 2:45.
Washington & Lee scored the first three goals of the fourth with SU tallying at 2:18 and 1:14 before the Generals closed out the contest with a goal 12 seconds before the final horn.
Stiffler led SU with a goal and four assists for five points with Buckner adding four goals. Cisar scored twice, and both Lerch and Maddie Re had a goal and an assist.
Ashley MacFarlane made 14 saves.
W&L outshot SU, 42-16, had a 19-13 edge on groundballs and won 17 of the 30 draws.
Cisar also had three groundballs and three draw controls.
