WILLIAMSBURG - The Shenandoah University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams had a combined six personal bests Friday on day two of the Colonial Relays.
One day after Tucker Kindig had a fourth place showing in the men's hammer invite, the SU women recorded four top 10 finishes at the primarily Division I meet.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Junior Kaitlin Measell led the way by finishing second in the long jump. The only non-DI competitor in the competition, Measell had a 5.52 meter leap on her third and final attempt to take the runner-up spot in the 30-woman event.
The remaining three top 10s came in the throwing events. Katya Hoover was fourth in javelin at 32.89 meters while Jessica Redfrey was ninth in the hammer and Kiara Felston 10th in the hammer invite. Redfrey had a 41.03 meter throw for her ninth place finish and Felston a 45.75 to come in 10th.Â
Sarah Sidoro, Mackenzie Plowman, and Erin Atkinson had the PRs in the 400, 800, and steeplechase, respectively.
MEN'S RECAP
Matthew Klocke had the men's best finish of the day with a 10th in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles. He was third among the DIII competitors.
Wyatt Newcome (100 and 200 meters) and Noah Hurd (1500 meters) had the men's personal bests. Miles Moore was 16th and William Crowder 21st in the 100.Â
UP NEXT
Madeline Lotts completes the Hornets run at the Colonial Relays Saturday morning with her participation in the 10,000 meters. The remainder of the team competes at the Battleground Relays in Fredericksburg.
