SALEM, Va. – A seven-goal Roanoke run keyed a 19-5 ODAC men's lacrosse victory for the host Maroons over Shenandoah University Saturday afternoon.
Roanoke (8-4, 4-0 ODAC) scored the game's first six goals, but the Hornets (4-6, 1-1) put together back-to-back goals in a 42-second span late in the second to cut the deficit to just four, 6-2.

The Maroons retook control of the contest, closing out the first half scoring on a Wyatt Whitlow goal at 2:46 of the second and then scoring the initial six coming out of halftime to lead 13-2 with 5:07 remaining in the third.
Whitlow had five of the seven goals during this run.
Austin Sydnor broke the scoreless string for Shenandoah by finishing off a
Stephen Graham feed at 2:33 of the third, but SU would get no closer than that 10-goal deficit. Roanoke scored the game's next two goals and four of the final five tallied in the contest to provide the final margin.
Robert Harvey, at 9:56, and Graham, at 3:31, had the Hornets fourth quarter goals.
Josh Boonshaft and
Jake Green, with the former goal coming off a
Zachary Heiderman assist, got Shenandoah started on the day.
Roanoke outshot SU, 57-50, had a 34-22 edge on groundballs, and won 19 of the game's 27 faceoffs.
Graham also had a team-high four groundballs with
Austin Galler adding three.
Goalkeeper
Mark Isabelle made 17 saves.
