WINCHESTER, Va. – The No. 3 Shenandoah University baseball team defeated Bridgewater, 10-2, at
Kevin Anderson Field at Bridgeforth Stadium Tuesday afternoon in an ODAC contest.
Tyler Blittersdorf's second inning inside-the-park grand slam gave the Hornets (27-3, 12-2 ODAC) the power they needed in the victory over the Eagles (12-20, 5-9).
IN BRIEF
Jacob Bell's (6-0) seven-pitch first inning started the afternoon off right for SU. With bases loaded in the bottom of the frame,
Haden Madagan was walked home to give the Hornets the 1-0 advantage.
With bases loaded again Blittersdorf drove a ball out to center that took a friendly hop off the turf and rolled to the wall for the inside-the-park grand slam.
The victors took advantage of yet another bases loaded situation as
Frankie Ritter cleared the bases with a double down the left field line in the sixth. Blittersdorf and
Colby Martin doubled in the next two at-bats for two more Shenandoah runs.
Parker Farrington pitched the final two innings for the Hornets. He retired all six betters out he faced while striking out half of them.
All nine Shenandoah batters reached base. Ritter, Blittersdorf,
Kooper Anderson,
Gavin Horning, and
Pearce Bucher each had multiple hits for the nationally-ranked Hornets.
Anderson was 4 for 5 and scored two runs.
