ASHLAND, Va. – The No. 3 Shenandoah University baseball team defeated No. 10 Randolph-Macon College, 10-5, Saturday afternoon in ODAC action.
The Hornets (28-3, 13-2 ODAC) scored runs in all innings except the third, seventh, and ninth in their win over the Yellow-Jackets (25-6, 12-3).
IN BRIEF
Tyler Blittersdorf got the day started hit his second home run in as many games with a solo shot in the first. R-MC responded with two runs on a double in the bottom half of the inning for its only lead of the contest.
Jacob Faivre (5-0) struck out five batters through in innings two through four after allowing the two early runs. The righty ended the game with seven strikeouts in five complete innings.
In the second,
Frankie Ritter hit a two-out RBI triple and later crossed the plate off of an RBI single from
Colby Martin. Ritter and Martin added to their RBI totals in the fifth putting the Hornets up 8-2.
On the first pitch of his at-bat in the eighth,
Haden Madagan drilled a solo home run over the left field wall for Shenandoah's final run of the game.
Reliever
Brian Ferreira pitched three innings allowing one hit and striking out four in the 12 batters he faced.
Randolph-Macon threatened a comeback as its scored three runs in the ninth and had bases loaded. However,
Kyle Lisa was able to get the final two outs of the game on a strikeout and a fielder's choice to preserve the victory.

The Hornets and Yellow Jackets play again tomorrow afternoon at noon to wrap up their weekend conference series.
