Men's Lax Tops Panthers

Hornets Defeat Ferrum, 19-4

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team earned its second straight victory Saturday afternoon with a 19-4 ODAC victory over Ferrum.

Shenandoah (7-8, 4-3 ODAC) and the Panthers (2-10, 0-7) waited an extra 80 minutes to get the contest started due to lightning in the area, but the Hornets wasted little time in taking control of the contest.

IN BRIEF
Max Myers, one of nine men honored prior to the senior day contest, put SU on top to stay by converting a Logan Clingerman feed 40 seconds into the game.

Coach Tim Marshall's club ended up scoring the first five goals of the game and 10 of the first 11 to take a commanding lead.

Ferrum scored the final goal of the first, at the 42-second mark, only to see Shenandoah score all five second quarter goals and three of the four in the third to lead 18-3 as the fourth quarter dawned.

The two teams split the two fourth quarter tallies, with Kollin Wisniewski setting up Sam Poster with 1:43 to close the book on the day's scoring.

Twelve men put their names in the scorebook on the day with Clingerman and Tyler Held, another of the seniors recognized, leading the way with four goals and two assists each.

Zachary Heiderman had a goal and four assists with Poster chipping in three goals and one assist.

Mark Isabelle and Jack Dwyer split the game in goal with Isabelle making one save and Dwyer two. Both men allowed two goals.

SU outshot the Panthers, 66-21, had a 53-33 advantage on groundballs, and won 20 of the 26 faceoffs.

Austin Galler had a team-high seven groundballs and was 13 of 15 at the faceoff 'x'.

UP NEXT
Shenandoah travels to No. 8 Washington & Lee for a 7 p.m. ODAC contest Wednesday evening.
