Hornets Clinch Third Seed with 17-13 Victory

ASHLAND, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team clinched the third-seed at the upcoming ODAC Tournament with a 17-13 victory at Randolph-Macon Wednesday evening.

Shenandoah (11-6, 6-2 ODAC) earns the first-round bye with the win over Macon (8-9, 4-4).

IN BRIEF
The Hornets never trailed in the contest, but R-MC made matters interesting until a 9-4 run that bridged halftime turned a 5-5 game into a 14-9 Shenandoah lead with 8:22 remaining in the third.

The Yellow Jackets would get no closer than four goals the rest of the way.

Senior Reilly Cisar had a game-high seven goals to go along with two assists for nine points with graduate student Emma Stiffler also racking up nine points on four goals and five assists. Eight different women scored at least one point for head coach Lindsey Lutz.

The SU defense, which forced Macon into 16 turnovers and four failed clears, held the 'Jackets off the board for the final 9:28 of the contest and saw them commit four yellow card offenses during that same span.

Emily Lerch, who had a co-team-high three draw controls, led the victors with three caused turnovers.

Shenandoah outshot Macon, 29-25, and had a 13-10 edge on groundballs. The Yellow Jackets won 19 of the game's 34 draws.

SU goalkeeper Ashley MacFarlane made seven saves.
