VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team completed its regular season Saturday with a 22-10 ODAC victory at Virginia Wesleyan.
Shenandoah (8-9, 5-4 ODAC) took control early with an eight-goal run that gave the Hornets total control of the contest versus the Marlins (6-10, 2-7).
IN BRIEF
Kollin Wisniewski started the run with an unassisted goal at 6:16 of the first, and after
Max Myers closed it out with a goal at 13:10 of the second, SU owned an 11-2 lead. Myers,
Logan Clingerman, and
Dylan Pencek all had two goals during this spurt.
After VWU ended the run with a goal at 10:34 of the second, Shenandoah ripped off a 5-0 run to complete the first half and take a 16-3 lead into the halftime locker room.
Coach
Tim Marshall's club gave up the first two goals of the third, but never let its margin dip below 11 goals for the remainder of the contest.
Clingerman led the way with four goals and one assist for five points with
Matt Daniel and
Josh Boonshaft both putting up four points. Daniel had three goals and one assist for his four points with Boonshaft dishing out three assists in addition to scoring once.
Austin Galler, who finished 20 of 29 at the faceoff 'x', also had a team-high nine groundballs. SU led in that category, 32-23.
Shenandoah outshot the Marlins, 50-38, and won 22 of 35 faceoffs.
Goalkeeper
Mark Isabelle had nine saves in 35 minutes with
Jack Dwyer making three stops in 25 minutes.

Shenandoah begins ODAC Tournament play tomorrow with an 11 a.m. game at sixth-seeded Bridgewater.
