Baseball Splits with Roanoke

Hornets Win Game Two, 6-3

SALEM, Va. – No. 3 Shenandoah University split its ODAC baseball doubleheader at Roanoke College Saturday afternoon.
 
Shenandoah (26-3, 11-2 ODAC) rebounded from a 7-6 loss to the Maroons (18-10, 10-3) in the opener to win game two, 6-3.
 
GAME ONE RECAP
Roanoke erased a 4-1 deficit with one run each in the fourth through six innings and pair of runs in both the seventh and eighth to win 7-6.
 
Both teams scored two runs in the eighth with SU taking the 6-5 lead and then the Maroons answering with two runs on two hits in the bottom of the frame to earn the victory.
 
Tyler Blittersdorf and Ryan Clawson both had two hits for the Hornets in the loss with Clawson hitting a solo home run in the fifth.
 
Ricky Snyder (2-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on two hits in one inning of work.
 
Jacob Faivre started and struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings.
 
GAME TWO RECAP
Shenandoah rebounded to salvage the split by scoring three runs in the first, one in the third and two in the fifth on its way to the 6-3 victory.
 
Reilly Owen (4-1) pitched the first five innings and earned the win by striking out seven against two runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks.
 
Kyle Lisa pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his third save of the spring. He struck out one.
 
Colby Martin had three hits in five at-bats and drove in three runs with Pearce Bucher driving in a pair.
 
Eight of the nine SU starters had at least one hit.
 
UP NEXT
Shenandoah returns home on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. ODAC contest versus Bridgewater.
