BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams completed the 2023 ODAC Championships Monday with a pair of top six finishes.
The Shenandoah men, with 79 points, finished sixth in their championship while the SU women had 62 points to finish fifth in the women's competition.
Lynchburg won both the men's and women's championships.
MEN'S RECAP
Miles Moore led the men on the second day of the championships with three All-ODAC performances. He was third in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes and was one-fourth of an ODAC runner-up 4 x 100 relay team.
William Crowder,
Andre Jackson, and
Wyatt Newcome joined him in that relay.
Crowder was fifth and Jackson eighth in the 100 to back up Moore. In the 200, Crowder finished eighth.
Elias McGhie also had a runner-up finish – he was second in the 400-meter hurdles.
Matthew Klocke was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles after finishing fifth in the 400-meter hurdles.
Jacob Young paced the throwers on day two with a fourth-place finish in the discus and a sixth in the javelin.
Dylan Tubbs was seventh in that latter event.
Klocke and McGhie completed their day by joining
Noah Eglin and
Charles Vakos in the seventh place 4 x 400 relay.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Katya Hoover led the women with the only championship of the day as she won the javelin throw after finishing as the runner-up Sunday in the high jump.
The 4 x 100 relay team of
Alexis Hubbard,
Janelle Anderson,
Sarah Sidoro, and
Kaitlin Measell just missed the podium with a fourth-place finish. Measell and Hubbard were seventh in the 100 meters and 400-meter hurdles, respectively.
Hubbard had a final seventh place finish by running the leadoff leg of the 4 x 400 meter relay. Sidoro, Amy Olesky, and
Haley Van Voorhis joined Hubbard in that relay.
Erin Atkinson added to her fifth place from Sunday's steeplechase with a sixth place in the 1500 meters Monday.
Kiara Felston, with a sixth place in the discus, rounded out the women's place winners.
ALL-ODAC
The two programs had a total of 10 All-ODAC finishes this weekend with three championships, four runners-up, and three third place showings. The 10 All-ODAC honorees brings the program's total to 175 in 12 years of league competition.
UP NEXT
This is the final meet of the season for the full team. A select group of athletes will continue to compete in the hopes of qualifying for the national championships. The first meet for this group is May 12 at the University of Mount Olive.
