RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 2/2 Shenandoah University baseball team advanced to the 2023 ODAC Baseball Tournament championship series with a 5-3 win over Roanoke College Friday afternoon at the University of Richmond.
Shenandoah (38-6) rallied with four runs in the seventh inning to eliminate the Maroons (28-17) from tournament elimination.

Down 2-1 and leading off the bottom of the seventh, pitch hitter
Cameron Carrow drew a six-pitch walk after starting down in the count 0-2. On a failed pickoff attempt, Carrow scampered to third with no outs.
Frankie Ritter drove in Carrow on a single to the right side over the heads of the drawn-in Roanoke infield. Ritter's hit tied the ODAC career hits record.
The graduate student came to bat in the eighth and broke the record by beating out a hit to the shortstop. Ritter now has 273 career hits to pass SU alum Tristan Baker '19 for most all-time. Baker started every game in his four-year career while wearing Ritter's No. 7 jersey.
Back in the seventh, a wild pitch scored Ritter for the 3-2 SU lead and the Hornets added on to the four-run inning with a sacrifice flies from
Pearce Bucher and
Haden Madagan.
The Shenandoah pitching staff did its job as
Michael Prosperi pitched the opening five innings.
Matt House (1-0) came in for relief and got the win with his 2 2/3 innings of work.
Parker Farrington recorded the final four outs for his second save of the year.
The three pitchers came together for five strikeouts. Ritter and
Colby Martin had two hits each, leading the team.
Shenandoah now makes it five straight tournaments with a championship appearance, winning three of the last four years.
Tomorrows meeting with Lynchburg is a rematch of the 2021 championship series. Lynchburg won game three of the series on a walk-off.

Shenandoah plays Lynchburg tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. at Pitts Field on the campus of U of R. Shenandoah must win both potential games tomorrow to win the 2023 ODAC Championship.
