Track and Field Schedule Announced

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field programs released their 2023-24 schedule Wednesday afternoon, as announced by head coach Andy Marrocco.
 
The Hornets have nine events scheduled for the indoor season and 11 events across the outdoor season.
 
The indoor track and field season begins at Virginia Military Institute for the VMI Team Challenge on Dec. 2.
 
After a month off, Shenandoah hosts the Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational on Jan. 14 at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics and Events Center. The women finished second in last year's home meet, while the men placed fourth.
 
The following week, the Hornets head to Landover, Maryland, for the Cardinal Track and Field Classic hosted by Catholic University. Another trip to VMI follows, as SU participates in The Winter Classic.
 
A trip to New York City, on Feb. 2, for the NYC DIII Invitational begins the second half of the indoor schedule. The last regular season meet of the indoor season is set for Feb. 10 at the Joe LaRocco Invitational hosted by Roanoke College.
 
The Hornets are back at Roanoke two weeks later for the ODAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. After that, SU hosts the NCAA South Region Qualifier on March 1-2.
 
To end the indoor season, the Virginia Beach Sports Center hosts this year's NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships on March 8-9.
 
The outdoor track and field team begins its portion of the schedule at the Shamrock Invitational in Conroy, South Carolina, on March 14-16.  
 
On March 23, SU takes the first of three trips to Bridgewater College for the Doc Jopson Invitational. Shenandoah heads back to the Eagles' campus for the North River Invitational and the ODAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on April 6 and April 26, respectively.
 
Shenandoah journeys to Fredericksburg, Virginia, for the Battleground Relays on March 30. Next is a three-day trip to William & Mary for the Colonial Relays.
 
After the conference championships, the Hornets travel to North Carolina for the UMO First and Final Qualifiers on May 10-12. One day later, SU is at Widener University for the Widener Final Qualifier.
 
The season wraps up at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, hosted at Coastal Carolina University on May 23-25. The Hornets sent six student-athletes to last year's national championship.
