Donaldson Named Indoor All-Region in Shot Put

NEW ORLEANS - The Shenandoah University indoor track and field programs earned one 2026 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region award, with first-year Molly Donaldson earning the distinction for shot put.

Donaldson's best mark of the season in shot put came at the Joe LaRocco Invite at Roanoke College back in February with a distance of 12.92m, which set a new school record, and is the third-best performance in the South Region. The thrower initially set the program record at the Bomber Invite at Ithaca College with a toss of 12.45m, before surpassing it again the next week.

Her first indoor season was capped off with a second-place finish at the 2026 ODAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in the event, giving her All-ODAC Second Team honors. At the conference championships, Donaldson threw a mark of 12.49m on her first of six attempts, with the event taking place on Sunday of the championships.

Donaldson began her career with an 11.51m toss at the Hornets' home Kaye & JJ Smith Invitational in January. At the home invite, the first-year took home first place in shot put.

Overall, she placed inside the top five at five meets this season, including two event wins, along with a top 10 showing in all six of her competitions, while also competing in the weight throw throughout the year.

The average of her top marks at each meet this season was 12.08m between her six shot put events.

Donaldson is the first SU woman since 2024 to earn indoor All-Region. Since 2021, Shenandoah has earned 31 USTFCCCA Indoor All-Region Awards between both its programs.

The Hornets start their outdoor season next week in Myrtle Beach.
