SALISBURY, Md – The Shenandoah University cross country teams kicked off their seasons racing in the Salisbury University Fall Classic hosted by Salisbury at Winter Place Park. Both the men's and women's teams came in third place, the men out of five teams, and the women out of three teams.
Women's 6K
Madeline Lotts was the top finisher for the Hornets, the junior placed fifth overall, and now is in possession of the fifth-fastest time in school history with a time of 22:35.93. Makenzie Plowman and
Makenna Thrush were the next finishers coming in twelfth and thirteenth place, respectfully, just 11 seconds apart. Emma Madrigal cracked the top 20 finishers, placing seventeenth overall, with a time of 25:00.03.
Lauren Tooman rounded out the scoring for the Hornets with placing 22
nd with a time of 25:44.57; just edging out
Sarah Christy by three seconds.
Allie Clarkson and
Amy Oleksy rounded out the scoring for SU, placing 26
th and 27
th respectfully.
Seton Hall won the meet for the women with 19 total points. The host, Salisbury, placed second with 45 points. Shenandoah rounded out the women's field with 65 points.
Men's 8K
Tyler Kimble was the top finisher for the men finishing his opening race of the season with a time of 27:09.23, good for 13
th place overall. With that finish, Kimble finds himself in the record books, with seventh overall fastest time as a first-year.
Ethan Harrower, also placed inside the top 20 with an 18th-place finish and a time of 27:27.86.
Noah Hurd crossed the line next for the Hornets, finishing 23
rd overall with a time of 28:09.20.
Joshua Canavan and
Caleb Beiswenger rounded out the scoring for SU placing 28
th and 29
th, respectfully. Nathan Lee, Noah Godfrey,
Grady Baggett,
Tyler Mullen, and
Brenden Maloy all crossed the finish line right after each other.
Ryan Coffelt finished the scoring for the 8K race with a time 35:43.90.
The host Seagulls ran away with the men's race to open the season. Salisbury finished with 18 total team points. Seton Hall placed second with 44 points, Shenandoah finished the opening race in third with 82 points, Gallaudet placed fourth with 129 points, and Delaware Tech Community College finished in fifth with 133 points.
Next up for the Hornets is the Long Short Invitational hosted by Dickinson on Saturday, September 23
