Chorney Earns All-Region; Women Place 10th, Men Place 14th at Regional Championships

SALEM, Va. - The Shenandoah University cross country teams raced at the 2025 NCAA South Region Championships on Saturday morning, with Maddy Chorney earning All-Region honors for the Hornets on the women's side.

The SU women placed 10th in the 6k, following the men's 14th-place performance in the 8k to open the day.

The men scored 357 points, as Zack Hamacher crossed first in 58th place at 26:48.9. Nate Lee came in five spots later at 26:59.9, followed by Will Ashley, who finished exactly two seconds later for 69th.

It took 30 seconds for the next SU runner to finish, as Brayden Shotwell wrapped up 16 spots after Ashley. Kyle Corpin closed out the top-five runners for the men in 91st at 27.38.0. Lee and Ethan Beaugez set the only personal records of the day for the Hornets.

For the women, Chorney crossed first in 23rd, earning all-region honors and helping the women earn 319 points in the race. Emilie Gaudron crossed next at 24:46.9 for 68th place.

Amy Oleksy finished at 25:04.2 in 72nd, while Grace Semow and Emily Bultema earned 83rd and 85th place, respectively, to round out the top five for the SU women. Semow ran a 25:13.8, with Bultema coming in just under five seconds later.

ODAC foe Washington and Lee won the team title on the men's side, and Emory, the number two team in the region entering the meet, won the title on the women's side.
