Two Hornets Earn All-ODAC Honors at Conference Championships

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Shenandoah University cross country teams ran at the 2025 ODAC Championships hosted by Bridgewater College on Saturday morning.

The women placed third, with Maddy Chorney earning first-team All-ODAC and Amy Oleksy earning second-team honors in the 6k. The men finished their 8k in fourth in the first race of the day.

Chorney became the first Hornet on the women's side to earn first-team all-conference honors since 2011, and the first Hornet overall since Ryan Taylor in 2014. Oleksy becomes the first Hornet since Madeline Lotts in 2023 to earn second-team honors.

Chorney ran a 22:45.6, placing fourth, with Oleksy finishing in 12th at 23:38.9. Emilie Gaudron came in next for the Hornets in 33rd at 24:47.4. Emily Bultema and Sarah Lane rounded out the top five for the Hornets in the 6k at 25:05.6 and 25:46.1, respectively. Chorney and Lane set PRs in their efforts.

On the men's side, Brayden Shotwell came in first for SU at 27:01.2. Nathan Lee placed 33rd at 27:30.6, and Zack Hamacher crossed the line at 27:47.8 to finish seven spots behind Lee. Just eight seconds after Hamacher finished, Will Ashley crossed for 44th. Caleb Beiswenger was the fifth Hornet to finish the 8k at 28:29.3, with Kyle Corpin coming in just 0.6 seconds later.

The women earned 89 team points, with Washington and Lee winning the team title at 21 points. The Generals also won the championship on the men's side, with the Hornets earning 128 points.
