Hornets Win Two Events and Felston Breaks Another Record in Cardinal Classic

LANDOVER, Md. - The Shenandoah University indoor track and field programs partook in the Robert Comstock Cardinal Classic on Saturday, winning both of the 5000 meter races.

In the women's weight throw, Kiara Felston continued to impress as she took home second place but broke her own school and ODAC record with a toss of 17.59m. She has broken the record for the third time this season and surpassed her mark of 17.39m set last week.

In the women's 5k event, the Hornets took first, second, and fourth place. Makenna Thrush won the event by a wide margin, with a time of 18:35.93. Teammate Emma Madrigal crossed the line next at 19:31.08, as Sarah Christy finished next for SU, 16 seconds later.

In the men's 5k Ethan Harrower finished first with a mark of 15:49.39, the only runner with a time below 16 minutes. Caleb Beiswenger finished strong as well, crossing the finish line for third place.

Sticking with the men, Noah Hurd and Devin Kohout took home top-five finishes in the mile, finishing third and fifth, respectively.

In the sprints, William Crowder finished the 200m with a time of 22.69 seconds, finishing second. Crowder ran in heat one during the event.

Shenandoah heads to Virginia Military Institute next weekend for the VMI Winter Classic.
