Track & Field Competes in Day One of VMI Invitational

Nicely Sets School Record

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Shenandoah University track and field programs competed in day one of the 2024 VMI Invitational on Friday.

Senior Emma Nicely set the school record in the women's 300-meter race with a time of 45.47 in the third heat. In the heat before Nicely's run, Mackenzie Plowman broke the previous school record with her time of 45.50.

In the prelims of the women's 60m, the Hornets had Janelle Anderson and Sarah Sidoro finish with times of 8.11 and 8.21, respectively. In the field, SU had Katya Hoover finish ninth in the high jump with a jump of 1.52m.

On the men's side, William Crowder moved on to tomorrow's men's 60m dash finals after coming in second in the semis with a time of 6.85, 0.03 off his PR. The finals of the 60m dash will be at approximately 12:15 p.m. tomorrow.

Reginald Patterson III had the highest SU finish in the weight throws with a toss of 13.00m. Dylan Tubbs finished one spot behind Patterson in the event, with Zak McIntyre three spots shy of Tubbs.

The distance medley team of Ethan Harrower, Noah Eglin, Devin Kohout, and Noah Hurd crossed the finish line at 11:00.80, finishing in sixth.
