Men's Basketball Traps WildCats in ODAC Win

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's basketball team picked up its 15th win of the season with a 74-63 win at Randolph College on Saturday afternoon in an ODAC game.

The Hornets (15-5, 6-5 ODAC) took advantage of eight threes in the first half and 17 points from Joshua Stephen and Evan Makle to take the controlling win over the WildCats (7-13, 1-10).

RECAP

SU controlled the first six minutes of the game as they jumped out to a 13-3 lead. Shenandoah hit three straight jumpers to start its scoring run. Jaylen Williams found Nic Pullum for the first jumper. Williams then found the basket himself two possessions later.

In his return to his former school, Makle came off the bench and got on the board with a fastbreak layup, following a steal from Williams. Makle helped the Hornets take an 18-9 lead as he hit a three followed by two free throws.

Shenandoah launched out to an 18-point lead with a trio of threes from Stephen and Williams across a two-minute span. That massive lead extended out to a 22-point lead for the Hornets at the half as Joseph Baldwin hit a last-second dunk to end the frame.

The big lead at the half helped the Hornets hold on as the WildCats tried to crawl back by outscoring SU by 11 in the second half.

Along with Stephen and Makle, Williams and Pullum each scored in double-digits for SU. As a whole, SU went 16 for 19 from the charity stripe while hitting 10 shots from behind the arc.
