Track & Field Competes at Roanoke, Felston Smashes Records Again

SALEM, Va. - Shenandoah University track & field competed in a 27-team field at the Joe LaRocco Invitational hosted by Roanoke College on Saturday. Thrower Kiara Felston broke the ODAC record for weight throw and William Crowder set the school record in the men's 60m dash.

For the fifth time in as many meets, Felston stepped up to the circle in the weight throw and demolished the ODAC record in the event. This week she broke the record she held by finally breaking the 18-meter mark, with a throw of 18.03. In the process, Felston also won the event.

Crowder ran a 6.80 in the semis of the 60 which broke the school record and qualified him for the finals. The sprinter finished third in the finals with a time of 6.86. For the women, Janelle Anderson represented the Hornets in the finals of the 60 with her prelim time of 8.05.

For the women's 800m, SU took home half of the top-10 spots in the event. Madeline Lotts finished fourth with Amy Oleksy, Emma Nicely, Mackenzie Plowman, and Kalee Raczkowski. Lotts' time moved her into sixth all-time for the event in program history while setting PR. Nicely also set a new PR.

For the men's 800m, Devin Kohout set a PR when he finished with a time of 2:01.48. Kohout finished eighth in the event while teammate Noah Hurd came in second with a mark of 1:59.92.

Over at throws for the men, Dylan Tubbs had the highest finish for SU with a PR throw of 12.52m.

Jessica Rendfrey placed in the top 10 in both the weight throw and shot put during the meet.

Shenandoah travels right back to Salem in two weeks for the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
