VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Kiara Felston and William Crowder of the Shenandoah University track and field team competed in day one of the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex on Friday afternoon.

The two Hornets earned second team All-America honors in their respective events with Felston competing in the women's weight throw and Crowder running in the men's 60m dash.

Beginning the day for SU was Crowder running in the prelims of the 60m dash. The senior ran in the second heat of the day and finished with a time of 6.85 to place 14th. There was a separation of 0.03 seconds between Crowder and the 8th-place runner.

Felston was in the second group of throwers and threw first in her group. On the graduate student's second attempt she hit a mark of 17.41m, placing 11th in the event. The throw was 0.02m ahead of the 12th-place competitor.

This is the first year that the NCAA has had a first and second team for indoor track and field. The first team is awarded to finishers 1-8 and the next eight are named second team in individual events.

Katya Hoover will compete at noon tomorrow in the women's high jump finals during the final day of the championship.
