WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team won again Saturday afternoon at Penn College of Technology on a rainy and cold Saturday afternoon. The Hornets (4-2) got seven goals from
Logan Clingerman en route to a 14-10 win over the Wildcats. Clingerman also added an assist for the contest to give him eight points for the day. After missing the last two games,
Stephen Graham picked up where he left off and made an immediate impact scoring two goals and dishing out two helpers.
Austin Galler had another solid performance in the face-off circle, winning 14-19 draws, and also found the back of the cage one time.
Mark Isabelle was solid in the cage for the Hornets, as the senior came up with 13 saves to secure his fourth win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Austin Galler won the opening draw but the Hornets turned the ball over. The defense and midfield for the Hornets quickly got the ball back as they forced the Wildcats to fail their clear attempt. Austin Sydnor rifled a shot that was saved, but Stephen Graham was there to put the Hornets up 1-0 just over a minute into the game.
- After the defense caused another turnover, Logan Clingerman scored on the Hornets' next possession pushing the lead to 2-0.
- 40 seconds after the Clingerman goal, Galler won the face-off, picked up the ground ball, and now it was Austin Sydnor's turn to find the back of the cage off an assist from Sam Poster.
- Penn College got their first goal right after, but the Hornets quickly got that one plus another back making it 5-1 halfway through the first. Clingerman got his second of the game (goal 4), and Matt Daniel picked up the fifth goal, a man-up goal, off a Graham assist.
- Dylan Pencek picked up his first goal of the season off of Logan Clingerman's assist before Clingerman picked up the first-quarter hat trick.
- After the Clingerman's hat trick, Austin Galler took the opening face-off right down Broadway to find the back of the cage as it was all Hornets with an 8-2 lead in the first.
- Penn College picked up the only goal in the second, as the Hornets took an 8-4 lead into the break.
- Penn College got the first goal in the second half, but the Hornets pushed the lead back to four goals at 9-5 just over 30 seconds into the quarter. Clingerman took advantage of the extra-man opportunity and buried his fourth.
- The Wildcats scored the next two goals to cut into the Hornets lead, but Clingerman's career-high day with seven goals, got those two back for the Hornets as it was now an 11-7 game with just under five minutes to play in the third.
- Clingerman picked up goal number seven early in the fourth, followed by Luke Petrie's first of the day, and Stephen Graham finished off the scoring for the Hornets with one last insurance goal.
- Mark Isabelle did the rest to fight off the Wildcats' attack and the Hornets left Williamsport with the 14-10 victory.
