Tubbs and Kohout Win at Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. - On the Friday portion of the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic, hosted by the University of Lynchburg, the Shenandoah University outdoor track and field programs sent a group of student-athletes down to compete in the field and distance events.

Starting in the field, Dylan Tubbs placed first in the men's javelin with his throw of 47.63m, which was 0.40m further than the second-place mark and is the fifth-best mark all-time for the men. Tubbs then competed in the men's hammer throw where he took home a seventh-place final. Also in the hammer throw, Reginald Patterson III placed three spots higher than Tubbs, with a heave of 45.87m.

In the women's javelin, Katya Hoover placed third with a throw of 34.53m, which was just under two meters further than the next closest competitor.

In the distance events, the Hornets placed well with Devin Kohout having the top placement, when he came in first for the men's 1500m finals with a time of 4:05.97. Noah Hurd was a couple of spots outside the top 10 in the 1500m but there was just a 5.63-second difference between him and Kohout.

The men also had Caleb Beiswenger come in eighth place in the men's 5k finals with a mark of 16:07.06. His time helped him move into the top 10 for the program all-time.

For the women's 1500m, SU had three runners come in the top 10, as Amy Oleksy finished with the best Shenandoah time at 4:57.63, which gave her fifth. Emma Nicely came in three seconds later to get sixth, while Mackenzie Plowman wrapped up 0.86 seconds behind Nicely, for ninth place. Oleksy and Nicely both are now seventh and ninth, respectively, in the event all-time for the program.

Shenandoah filled the top 10 for the women's 5k as well, with Sarah Christy placing third with her time of 19:03.94, which puts her eighth all-time for the team. Allie Clarkson crossed the line two spots after Christy and Emma Madrigal followed Clarkson in sixth.

In the women's 5k invitational finals, Madeline Lotts moved into fourth place all-time for the Shenandoah women's team with a time of 18.30.45.
