WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team dropped a tough conference matchup to the number 10-ranked Washington and Lee Generals Wednesday evening on a blistery, rainy day by a score of 18-8. The Hornets (6-5, 2-2) were led offensively
Logan Clingerman who had 3 goals and an assist,
Clark Harrity scored his first two goals of his college career tonight,
Sam Poster,
Josh Boonshaft, and
Dylan Pencek all had a goal for the Hornets.
Mark Isabelle got the start in goal and made 10 saves for the Hornets, while
Jack Dwyer saw action for the second-straight game and made a save while letting up no goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Generals won the opening faceoff and came down and got a shot on Mark Isabelle, who came up with the save to keep W&L off the board.
- Stephen Graham, on the Hornets' first offensive possession, fired a shot on goal, but the Generals' keeper made the save.
- Washington and Lee broke through first with 12 minutes left in the first, to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Hornets kept the Generals off the board for another six minutes but only managed two shots of their own. Logan Clingerman fired a shot wide of frame before Sam Poster's shot was saved.
- Bryan Berryhill added the only other shot for the Hornets in the first, as the Generals managed to score two more times to take a 4-0 lead into the second.
- In the second, Bradly Holt fired the first shot for the Hornets but was saved by W&L.
- The Generals got their first goal in the second with 13 minutes left in the half as they increased the lead to 5-0.
- Logan Clingerman got one more shot off but came up empty as the Generals made it 6-0 with just over 5 minutes to go in the half.
- The Hornets started to generate some offense as Bradley Holt and Stephen Graham each fired shots before Clark Harrity picked up his first career goal off an assist from Luke Petrie.
- The Generals added one more with under 10 seconds to go and took a 7-1 lead into the break.
- The Hornets got off to a slow start in the second half as the Generals scored four goals in a span of 30 seconds making it 11-1.
- The Hornets picked up their second goal of the game off a faceoff win by Dylan Pencek who picked up the groundball and fired a shot past the Generals' keeper.
- Once again, the Generals answered right away pushing the lead back to 12-2.
- Logan Clingerman scored for the Hornets with just over 9 minutes to go in the third for a combined seven goals over a two-minute period.
- The Generals ended the third scoring four more goals while Austin Sydnor and Stephen Graham were the only Hornets to get shots in the rest of the quarter.
- The Hornets won the opening faceoff in the fourth as they made three-straight shots to start the quarter. It was Clark Harrity, who scored his second of the game to make it a 16-4 game.
- The Generals answered again making it 17-4 with just under 10 minutes to go in the game.
- Josh Boonshaft got in on the scoring for the Hornets, but the Generals answered once again pushing the lead back to 13 goals with just under 6 minutes to play.
- The Hornets ended the game with three straight goals, the first was Logan Clingerman's second of the game before he finished the hat trick on the only man-up goal in the game. Sam Poster picked up the final Hornets goal with just under 90 seconds to go as Washington and Lee picked up the 18-8 victory.

The Hornets dropped two games in a row for the first time all season, and now they will hit the road on Friday and look to get back into the win column with a conference matchup with Randolph. Faceoff for that game will be at 4 pm.
