12 Hornets Move Up in Track & Field Record Books During Weekend Meet

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Over the past three days, the Shenandoah University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams have competed at the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary. Across the weekend, the Hornets had one school record broken, 12 athletes move into the top 10 of the program's record book, and 12 personal records set. The Hornets women's team placed 18th in the meet and the men placed 22nd.

THURSDAY RECAP

The only event to happen on Thursday was the men's hammer throw and the lone Hornet to compete in the event was Reginald Patterson III. Paterson III placed second in the event with a throw of 45.12m. His heave moved him into sixth all-time for the program for the men's hammer throw.

FRIDAY RECAP

In the men's and women's 800m, Shenandoah had a total of five athletes move into the top 10 of the programs record book. On the men's side, Noah Hurd is now fourth all-time with his time of 1:57.77. Devin Kohout finished a hair behind Hurd, with a time of 1:57.82, which places him fifth all-time. For the women, Emma Nicely ran a 2:22.71, which puts her fourth all-time. Mackenzie Plowman and Amy Oleksy also are now in the top 10 with their times of 2:24.30 and 2:24.65, respectively. Oleksy and Kohout weren't done there, as they each moved into the top 10 for the 1500m race.

In the men's 3000m steeplechase, Ethan Harrower is now fifth in the program as he finished the race at 9:52.37. Madeline Lotts ran a 39:07.95 in the 10k invite, which puts her third all-time for the women.

William Crowder, in the 100m dash finals, placed sixth in the event with a time of 10.81.

Over in the field, Jessica Rendfrey had the best finish of the day for SU as she placed third in the women's hammer throw at 41.19m. Katya Hoover threw a 30.30m in the same event. In the women's hammer throw invite, Kiara Felston had a ninth-place finish as she heaved a toss of 48.10m. After the hammer, Hoover went and placed eighth in the javelin, while competing in the invite portion of the event.

Mekhi Mims had the final 10 top finish for the Hornets on Friday as he jumped a 1.85 high jump.

SATURDAY RECAP

The final day of the meet was highlighted by Katya Hoover setting the school record in the women's high jump. The junior broke the record with her jump of 1.65m and placed fourth in the invite event.

Competing in his third event of the weekend, Reginald Patterson III had a fifth-place mark of 39.14m in the men's discus, which now puts him eighth all-time for the SU men. Kaira Felston placed sixth for the women in the discus invite with her mark of 32.29m.

Kristian Moore, competing in the men's triple jump invite is now fifth all-time for SU with his jump of 12.93m.

Shenandoah heads to Lynchburg on Friday for the Dennis Craddock Invitational.
