Track & Field Sets Personal Records at UMO First Qualifier

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - Shenandoah University outdoor track & field sent a group of athletes to the Mount Olive First Chance Qualifier on Friday with every athlete competing placing in the top 10 of their respective events.

Katya Hoover had the best placement of the day, coming in second in the women's javelin with a throw of 39.09m, which is .17m shy of her personal best.

Reginald Patterson III competed in three events across the day. In the men's shot put he hit a mark of 12.90m to place fourth. In his other two events, discus and hammer throw, the field athlete set personal records. In the discus he hit a PR of 59.52m, keeping him eighth all-time in the program. For the hammer he threw 47.18m to move into fourth all-time.

Sarah Sidoro placed third in the women's 400m with a run of 1:00.33, which is just half a second shy of her PR.

William Crowder qualified for the 100m dash finals after running a 10.99 in the prelims. In the finals, Crowder placed eighth as he crossed the finish line at 10.86. In the same event on the women's side, Janelle Anderson placed 10th in the prelims with a time of 12.55.

Competing in heat one, Kiara Felston set a PR and broke her own school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 50.55m. Her previous best was a 50.47m earlier this season at Bridgewater College. Felston now sits 36th in the nation in the hammer.
