Track & Field Wraps Up at UMO

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - Six members of the Shenandoah University outdoor track & field teams competed at a final qualifier hosted by the University of Mount Olive on Saturday.

Katya Hoover placed second in both of her events in the field. First in the javelin, Hoover threw a 36.55m mark. In the high jump, she made it over the 1.66m bar to place second, as one other athlete also hit the 1.66m height.

Kiara Felston broke her own school record in the hammer throw with a heave of 50.78m to place fifth, 0.04m further than the next closest mark.

Staying in the field, Reginald Patterson III competed in three events. In the men's hammer, Patterson placed ninth with a throw of 45.96m after setting a PR in the event on Friday. In discus, the graduate student's 40.98m mark put him seventh in the program's record book. Rounding out his afternoon, Patterson went to the shot put and placed fourth with a distance of 13.27m.

Now on the track, Janelle Anderson qualified for the 100m dash finals after a time of 12.68 in the prelims to start her day. In the finals, Anderson improved her prelim time by 0.08 seconds to place seventh.

In the women's 400m, Sarah Sidoro ran a 1:00.82 the day after running a 1:00.33 in the same event.

William Crowder competed in the men's 100m dash and came in 13th as he crossed the finish line at 10.82.
