Newcome Earns Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. - Shenandoah University's McKenna Newcome has earned women's soccer ODAC Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Newcome scored four goals in the Hornets' two conference wins this past week. The midfielder scored twice in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Bridgewater and followed it up with a two-goal performance on Saturday against Hollins.

The sophomore scored her first goal of the week in the 10th minute of the game against the Eagles, before adding another one in the 49th minute, helping the Hornets to their first home win over the Eagles since 2006.

Newcome then went on to score two goals in the first 10 minutes of the team's 8-0 victory over Hollins. 

The sophomore is currently in the top-10 of shots (77), shots on goal (44), goals (7), assists (4), and points (18) for the ODAC.

The Hornets and Newcome are in action tomorrow evening at Lynchburg. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
