Men's Golf in 13th After Two Rounds

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - The Shenandoah University men's golf team sits in 13th after the first 36 holes of the West Pines Collegiate tournament by Oglethrope on Monday. The Hornets scored a 301 (+17) in round one and improved by 10 strokes in round two for a two-round total of 592.

Conor McCarthy leads the way for Shenandoah at four-over par, scoring a 76 through the first 18 and a 72 in the latter half of the day. The first-year recorded eight birdies throughout the day, including on hole 11 during both rounds.

Ben Gray also carded a 72 (E) in the second round, after recording a 77 (+5) earlier in the day. Gray recovered from a double bogey on hole five during the second round with consecutive birdies on the next two holes.

Caden Sherman led the Hornets in the first round with a 75 (+3) with four birdies and ended the day at seven-over with a 76 (+4) performance in round two.

After shooting 77 (+5) in round one, first-year Braden Hermansky improved by two strokes on his second trip around the course, helped out by birdies on holes six and nine and six straight pars on the back nine.

Dan Ailor completed the day with a two-round total of 154 (+10) with four birdies in round two and a 38 (+2) on the front nine of round one, which was tied for the team-best.

UP NEXT

The Hornets conclude their time in Georgia with the final round of the West Pines Collegiate tomorrow. Rhodes College currently leads the field at 562 (-6).
