Men's Golf Sets Program Record Score in Round Three

Hornets Place Sixth at West Pines Collegiate

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - The Shenandoah University men's golf team set a program record on Tuesday afternoon in the final round of the West Pines Collegiate. The Hornets collectively shot a 277 (-7), which is five strokes better than their previous best.

Shenandoah finished the tournament in sixth place with a three-round total of 869 (+17), shooting a 301 (+17) and 291 (+7) in rounds one and two, respectively. SU made 24 birdies and an eagle during its round on Tuesday.

Conor McCarthy climbed 12 spots on the individual leaderboard on Tuesday, carding a 70 (-1). The first year started his day on hole 11 and made birdies on seven, 17, and 18, while adding the team's lone eagle on hole eight. McCarthy ended the invitational in 13th place.

Caden Sherman, Braden Hermansky, and Dan Ailor all recorded a 69 (-2) on Tuesday. Ailor landed seven birdies, while Sherman and Hermansky had six and five birdies, respectively. Sherman ended the tournament ahead of the other two Hornets with a three-day score of 218 (+5), tying for 22nd.

Ben Gray carded a 74 (+3) in his final round, having eight pars or better on the front nine, while hitting back-to-back birdies on holes 15 and 16.

Shenandoah had the best team score for round three by nine strokes. Rhodes College won the invitational with an 854 (+2).
